They don’t have tangible fingers and they probably don’t have much to write about anyway. No, ghost blogging is actually an online marketing practice in which an unknown reader comments on other people’s blog entries in order to bring traffic or attention to their company’s website. Here’s an example. Suzy Q works for the marketing department of a company called Chewy Chocolates. To help spread the word about the business, she checks out websites and blogs that are focused on chocolate, candy, and sweets and leaves comments if possible. These comments typically say things like: “Great points. I totally agree that raspberries are the perfect fruit to combine with chocolate. It just so happens we sell chocolate covered raspberries at Chewy Chocolates! www.chewychocolates.com And we have a special going on, if you buy one pound you get the second pound 50% off. Check it out!” “Very well done entry! Many people don’t know chocolate contains antioxidants. Truly remarkable. We’ll be sure to tell our customers that at Chewy Chocolates.” “Your blog is truly resplendent. Did you know women prefer chocolate as a gift over anything in the world, even diamonds?
